Hawaii Travel Guide

I’ve traveled through Hawaii’s islands many times, each one offering something different. The best months to visit are April through October when the weather is warm, the ocean is calm, and there’s less rain.

Islands I Recommend Visiting

Oahu is usually my starting point. Honolulu has the best flight connections and plenty of food and nightlife, but I spend most of my time on the North Shore. It’s quieter, and the beaches stretch for miles. Waikiki is busy but good for beginners who want to surf or paddleboard.

Maui is a favorite for scenic drives and beaches. The Road to Hana is worth taking slow, and Haleakalā National Park is one of the best sunrise spots I’ve seen. On the Big Island, I visit Volcanoes National Park and stay near Kona for snorkeling and diving. Kauai is my personal favorite. It’s the most peaceful island, full of green cliffs, waterfalls, and quiet trails. The Na Pali Coast is one of the most beautiful hikes in the world.

How I Get Around and Plan Ahead

I rent a car on every island because public transport is limited. Lodging books up early during holidays and summer, so planning a few months ahead helps. For hiking and snorkeling, I always check weather and ocean conditions before heading out.

Pack light clothes, reef-safe sunscreen, and shoes that can handle both trails and water. Respect local areas and avoid touching coral or wildlife when snorkeling.
